Andhra Pradesh Sees Sharp Weather Contrasts

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh is witnessing extreme weather variations, with temperatures plunging in ASR district while coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema experience soaring heat. On Saturday, G. Madugula in ASR district recorded a chilling 7.6°C, marking a sharp drop, while Kurnool in Rayalaseema sizzled at 36°C.
The Regional Agriculture Research Centre in Chintapalle reported a significant dip in temperatures across ASR district. G. Madugula dropped from 11.3°C to 7.6°C, while GK Veedhi saw a decline from 11.7°C to 7.9°C.
Lambasingi, known for its cool climate, recorded 8.5°C, down by four degrees in 24 hours, while Araku Valley registered 8.6°C, dropping from 12.3°C. Paderu and Peda Bayulu also recorded lows of 9.6°C.
In stark contrast, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema witnessed an unusual rise in temperatures. Bapatla recorded 34.8°C, 4.1°C above normal, while Narsapur and Machilipatnam registered 34.4°C, both up by 3.3°C.
Kurnool and Anantapur recorded the highest temperatures at 36°C, intensifying the heatwave conditions.
According to the IMD Amaravati report, lower tropospheric northerly and north-westerly winds were prevailing over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, while south-easterly winds dominated south coastal AP and Rayalaseema. The forecast predicts shallow fog at isolated places during the morning across north and south coastal AP and Yanam.
Maximum temperatures are expected to remain 3-5°C above normal in coastal Andhra Pradesh and 2-4°C above normal in Rayalaseema, further exacerbating the contrasting weather conditions.
