The actress teased viewers with what’s to come in Weatherfield
Coronation Street star Sydney Martin joked she was “not impressed” as she posed alongside Roy Cropper actor David Neilson.
The actress joined the ITV soap last summer as feisty teen Betsy Swain. She was introduced as the daughter of DS Lisa Swain during the harrowing grooming storyline involving Joel Deering and Lauren Bolton.
During recent weeks, Betsy struggled in the aftermath of Mason’s death and was then traumatised further when she was accidentally shot in the arm during Rob Donovan’s hostage situation.
While trying to get her own back on Tracy Barlow for protecting Rob from the police and helping him out, Betsy attempted to steal her van for Preston’s Petals.
With her injured arm, however, it was Lauren Bolton who helped her drive off to try and avoid being caught by Tracy. Unfortunately, she crashed leading to Betsy’s arrest as she promised to keep Lauren’s name out of it.
In spoilers released this week, Coronation Street confirmed that Lauren and Betsy come to blows in the café as the latter calls Lauren out over her treatment of Bobby.
A row ensues and Lauren accidentally squirts ketchup all over Roy Cropper.
Taking to her Instagram story, Sydney first posted the spoiler picture before following it up with a selfie of her and David as she wrote: “not impressed”.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), @WayhaughtLunar wrote: “I NEED MORE BETSY AND ROY SCENES!” as @ediitedbysoph added: “Can’t wait for this episode”.
Another viewer @_chandelierbing commented: “Howling at Betsy and Lauren bricking it because they know Carla doesn’t play when it comes to Roy.”
Sydney recently spoke about tackling new storylines, as she shared: “Every time we have a [new] storyline, they always bring Ali [King, who plays Carla] and Vicky in first and they never tell me!
“I’m usually about a week after them. I never heard anything and then I went in for [my meeting], I went into the little booth for a Zoom with Kate [Brooks, Corrie producer] and I was like: ‘Ok… that’s the storyline, I’m going!'”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV1 at 8pm and is available to stream on ITVX.
